Discovery Trail Boardwalk

Balgowlah Heights Public School

The Discovery Trail Boardwalk began as a dirt trail through a remnant bushland site preserved by forward thinking principals, teachers and parent groups. Funding became available in 2009 and our plans were made into reality. The raised boardwalk preserved the site as hundreds of students accessed the site for environmental studies. The integrity of native species was achieved by annual planting days by students, assisted by the local council environmental education department. This was supported by a series of bush regeneration workshops followed by a dedicated group of parents regularly maintaining the site. A recent student survey showed the Boardwalk high on the list of things we value at our school.
